Sex Therapy
Sexual well-being is an important part of our overall health, yet it remains one of the most difficult topics to talk about. For many people, conversations about sex have been shaped by silence, shame, stigma, or messages that their needs, desires, or identities are somehow "wrong." Whether these messages came from family, culture, religion, relationships, or society, they can have a lasting impact on how we experience ourselves, our partners, and intimacy.
Many individuals and couples struggle in silence, believing they are alone in their experiences or feeling embarrassed to ask for support. You may be navigating differences in desire, painful sex, challenges with arousal or orgasm, changes following parenthood, concerns around sexual functioning, the impact of trauma on intimacy, or questions related to sexual identity, gender, or relationship structures.
I also provide an affirming space for members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and those exploring kink, BDSM, fetish, consensual non-monogamy, or other diverse expressions of sexuality and relationships. Whatever brings you to therapy, you deserve a space where your experiences are met with curiosity, respect, and without judgment.
Our relationship with sexuality is shaped by far more than biology. Family messages, cultural expectations, religious beliefs, attachment experiences, trauma, body image, and past relationships all influence how we experience intimacy and connection. For many people—particularly those raised in cultures where conversations about sex were discouraged or considered taboo—these experiences can create shame, guilt, confusion, or difficulty communicating needs and boundaries.
Over time, these beliefs can make it challenging to experience closeness, vulnerability, pleasure, or authenticity in our relationships.
Concerns related to sex are often about much more than physical intimacy. They are frequently connected to emotional safety, communication, trust, vulnerability, and the ways we relate to ourselves and others. You may find yourselves avoiding conversations about sex, feeling disconnected from your partner, struggling to communicate your needs, or wondering why intimacy no longer feels the way it once did. These experiences are far more common than many people realize and are not a reflection of your worth or the strength of your relationship.
My approach to sex therapy is sex-positive, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive. I recognize that every individual and couple brings a unique history, set of values, identities, and lived experiences into the therapy room. Together, we'll explore the emotional, relational, cultural, and psychological factors influencing your concerns while working toward greater understanding, communication, and connection.
Therapy is tailored to your unique goals and may involve exploring attachment patterns, relationship dynamics, communication, cultural and intergenerational messages about sexuality, and the impact of past experiences on your current relationships. Whether you're attending individually or as a couple, my goal is to create a space where conversations about sex feel safe, respectful, affirming, and free from shame.
Our relationship with intimacy is shaped by the stories we've been told, the experiences we've lived, and the connections we've had. Together, we'll create space to understand those stories, challenge those that no longer serve you, and build a relationship with yourself and others that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.
